It is a DUGONG! It's related to manatees but it lives in salt water, like oceans, where the manatee lives in fresh water, like lakes and rivers. (Watch this awesome video on manatees.) It has such a sweet face it is possible that it may have been the beginnings of the mermaid stories. And, guess what, they can live to be more than 70 years old! It is listed as being a vulnerable species. Stu found out that this guy's name is Danny. Do you believe in mermaids? Make sure you check out our latest contests and giveaways.

A quote from the upcoming book: The Adventures of Stu and the Silly Humans:

To say that the publishing field has changed is sort of like saying we have a few more cars than we did one hundred years ago. The big change: technology.
In years gone by I would write my great American novel and then try to find an agent. Publishers would rarely consider your work if you weren't represented by an agent.
I would do my research and find an agent who seemed to be working in my genre, then send a synopsis, letter, and chapter samples.
And then wait. more here.
Read about ostriches and their elephant friends who were orphans and sick. They were rescued together and even though their keepers kept trying to get the ostriches to join the other ostriches they preferred to stay with their elephant buddies.
You'll love this story!
I don't know about you but I love physical books, especially with kids. A cuddle on a rainy day or a night time ritual with a physical book is great.
So why are books going digital? Like our kids, they are portable. Children often love Mom or Dad's phone and computer. When my granddaughter was only 2 she could find her favorite games and videos on Mom's phone.
Buying patterns are showing that people may start with a paper book and then will purchase the digital copy so that it can travel with them.
I wrote the Adventures of Stu series to be simply fun, giggly stories that let children make a new friend and have imaginative adventures.
UPDATE: Stu and the Aliens is now available in PAPERBACK! Here it is on Amazon.
One side note, my 5 year old (yes, 5) granddaughter said to me, "You write fiction. Stu isn't real." I stopped what I was doing, amazed. "I wish everything was nonfiction then it would be true." Evidently her art teacher taught them this. Wow, kids...

and Have you ever wondered how a picture book is made? The first step, usually, is to have a story idea. Once you have created it you then place it in a template deciding what each page and text will be.
The artist creates the sketches, the color palette is chosen, then the coloring is completed. Sometimes there are many artists, in some cases one artist may do the sketches, another the coloring, and possibly another to place the text. Our artist, Stella Wang, is extremely talented and we love working with her. Once the images are created they are placed in the specific layout needed for the production of an ebook or physical book.
